Jørgen has settled in the Swedish countryside after 50 years as a freelance academic, writer, editor, and trainer worldwide. When he traveled, Jørgen developed trainings for grassroots organisations and taught in many types of educational institutions, ranging from secondary schools to universities. His teaching included how to understand nonviolent revolutions, civil disobedience, conflict resolution, media, peace, war and many other subjects.
Jørgen has written and edited over ten books and published numerous articles and chapters on nonviolence, democracy, conflicts, civil disobedience, environmental issues, terrorism, globalisation, and other topics. Some of Jørgen’s articles and book chapters are availible in full text on Research Gate. He was the chair of War Resisters’ International from 1991 to 1998 and edited the peer-reviewed Journal of Resistance Studies for ten years. Today Jørgen is responsible for Irene Publishing, which publishes 10-15 titles a year. In addition to focusing on practical work in the garden and the forest, he runs a sawmill and carpentry workshop.
